Emirates brings Oktoberfest flavours onboard flights to Germany
Traditional Bavarian meals served across all cabin classes
DUBAI – Emirates is preparing to mark Oktoberfest with a celebration of Bavarian culture, bringing traditional cuisine and German entertainment to passengers travelling between Dubai and Germany.
The festive offering will run from 20th September to 5th October on flights to Munich, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt, as well as in Emirates’ airport lounges across Germany.
The airline’s celebration will serve up specially crafted menus across all cabin classes, Oktoberfest-inspired snacks in the A380 Onboard Lounge, and themed treats in First Class, alongside authentic Bavarian dishes in airport lounges. Travellers can also immerse themselves in German cinema and music through Emirates’ inflight entertainment system, ice.
First Class dining
Customers in First Class can savour refined appetisers of poached Alaskan King crab or roasted pumpkin soup. Main courses will feature chicken filled with mushrooms and bread dumplings with trio of celeriac and blanched broccolini, or braised veal shank served with roasted root vegetables, red cabbage and mashed potatoes. Desserts include Kaiserschmarren – a sweet shredded pancake with plum compote and cinnamon crème anglaise – or apple strudel with crème anglaise and berries.
Adding a festive touch to the inflight cinema, First Class passengers can also enjoy a new Oktoberfest movie snack platter featuring smoked turkey, beef salami, Obatzda, Emmental, cream cheese, egg, radish, cornichons and brezel.
Business and Economy
In Business Class, highlights include duck liver terrine with veal bacon, roasted pumpkin soup, braised beef short ribs or veal shank with traditional accompaniments. Desserts will feature baked cheesecake with blueberry compote or apple strudel with cinnamon whipped cream.
Economy Class passengers will enjoy starters such as German potato salad or apple and raisin salad. Mains include chicken sausage roll with onion jus, mashed potatoes and sauerkraut, or baked chicken in paprika cream sauce with broccoli and potato salad. Dessert options feature Black Forest cake with cherry compote. Passengers departing Dubai will also receive a complimentary gingerbread heart decorated in Oktoberfest style.
Lounges and Onboard Lounge
In the A380 Onboard Lounge, Oktoberfest sandwiches will include cream cheese with chives, roasted beef with gherkins, Emmental with laugen bread, and chicken leberkäse in a Kaiser roll, alongside freshly baked pretzels. Pastry selections will range from Black Forest cake and plum cake to German-style cheesecake and custard-filled Krapfen.
Airport lounges in Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Düsseldorf will also serve Oktoberfest favourites, including chicken sausages with sauerkraut, chicken thighs with Bavarian potato salad, Käsepätzle with roasted onions, Wurstsalat, Obatzda with pretzels, and seasonal beers.
Entertainment
Passengers can explore 22 German films including Köln 75, Ein Mädchen namens Willow and Red Stars Upon the Field, along with more than 350 Hollywood blockbusters dubbed in German such as How to Train Your Dragon, Elio and Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning. Music options will include 31 German playlists and albums, complementing the 6,500 channels available on ice.
Emirates will mark Oktoberfest across its triple daily flights to Frankfurt, and double daily services to Munich, Düsseldorf and Hamburg.
